As a commercial copywriter, I write direct response copy for the Internet.
I specialize in writing copy for web page sales letters, landing pages and squeeze pages. I write SEO copy, and I write other forms of copy, too, which I'll explain in a minute.
Dan and I both work online. We are a writer/designer team. I mention my honey, because we work in the same industry. That makes life so much sweeter. Nice. But I won't say much more about that right now.
For awhile I wrote articles for magazines and journals. I mean the paper version, but most have online versions now. I continue to write news and an online opinion column.
I've composed lyrics for sing-songy radio ads. I've written policy manuals for government agencies, as well as style guides. I've put together the course copy for online lessons and training manuals. I have authored printed books on marketing and 50 PDF ebooks. I do sell the copyright and full publication rights with my commercial writings upon full payment.
I also write scripts, which in the last few years has become more than 50% of my time and as things evolve in 2012, screenwriting may be more dominant than my commercial writings. I've created radio scripts and video scripts and am currently working on a major motion picture screenplay. I only write scripts under my own copyright and my screen writings are registered with the WGAW. I am happy to write a script for a client as long as clients understand and agree that my screenwriter name and copyright remain with the work.
I started designing websites in 1999 when the Web began to get noticed in a big way, because it was a natural next step to my web copy services. I got pretty good at it.
By 2002, Dan and I enjoyed a healthy client list for website design, web maintenance and web hosting in addition to our copywriting clients.
We added Internet marketing services, because that just seemed logical. Plus, many of our clients inquired about marketing. To our surprise and delight, it didn't take long for our boutique creative business services to take off.
Our combined knowledge and skills allowed the company to offer marketing services that included a level of creative development that was only available from ad agencies.
Since I worked with top agencies, I knew how advertising tied marketing communications together, and adapted the process to the Internet successfully.
What was once a small copywriting business evolved into a full service creative ad agency in less than five years. We actually didn't plan this fast growth, but our clients loved us, continued to use our services and sent us referrals. The rest is history. Good news for us.
I don't want to spout that same propaganda that I'm sure you hear... like empty promises filled with hype, take your money and then leave you lacking for a return. My partner and I mean business. We want to establish a long-term relationship with our clients... a relationship where you hold us accountable for the services we task for you. |
