The business operated as a production company providing copywriting, art and photo direction and print production, but quickly expanded to include ad agency services from advertising, media planning and direct marketing to local businesses. Key services focused on writing and concepting projects, such as direct mail campaigns with envelope snipes, brochure inserts, order forms with product information and long, persuasive cover letters.
"We offered our expertise writing copy for direct mail campaigns, company sales brochures, salesletters, response ads for newspaper and magazines, annual reports, radio spots, video scripts, email and web site landing pages."
First Clients
The company managed projects, including hands-on tasks from copywriting to print production for such prestigious organizations as: Dallas Convention & Event Services, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Pilgrim’s Pride, Sage Group, Sunshine Mining Company, Michael’s MJ Design, Crow Design Centers, Tri City Hospital, Children’s Apparel Services, Grand Prairie State Bank, Holiday Inn and Allied Marketing Group.
The team applied their own innovative direct response strategies to direct mail campaigns and brochures for mail order and catalogs, which resulted in exceptional response rates in the 6-11% range at a time when 2% was the norm.
Name Change
After experiencing much success, the company dropped the name Copywriters, which seemed to reflect more of a freelance copywriter limitation rather than the design services that the company also provided.
To solve this name problem, the official name was changed to "Marketing Department" and coincidently, the company relocated to North Dallas.
