G. How do I use the Control Panel and what are all those icons about?
Once logged in to your /cpanel - navigate to the bottom of the left side of your screen for a link to full documentation with User Manual style explanations and directions on how to use your control panel.
I get a "Page not found" error when I try to access the control panel.
There are several reasons why this might be happening:
Blocked ports:
The control panel runs off of ports 2082 and 2083. Also, ports 2095 and 2096, among others, depending on the feature and interface. You should ensure that you don't have any local system or network firewalls/NAT or IDS (Intrusion Detection System) that would be blocking outgoing connections to the ports listed above.
Wrong domain name or propagation issues:
Be sure you're typing the domain name correctly, that it is hosted on our servers and not an old provider or the registrar's default page/server. Be sure your domain has propagated if it's newly set up, and use your site's IP address in the meantime to access the control panel.
Wrong/Bookmarked URL:
Do not bookmark the URL to the control panel once you log in. If we make any changes to the version and you are logging into the URL of domain.com:2082/ui_root/etc..., you will get a page not found error when the themes are updated.
Please only bookmark the domain.com/cpanel URL, which will redirect you to the correct URL once you supply the login information. The URL should always be http://domain.com/cpanel and always in lower case letters.
User and password in the URL:
Some web browsers have disabled the default URL syntax for logging into a web site in the form of user:pass@domain.com, and that might be why you are not able to log into the control panel. Simply use the correct login information when prompted. |
