How do I change the dns?
Before your website account is live for public viewing on the Internet, the registrar where you purchased your domain name must point to your server. You have two options:
1. You can ask our technicians to update the dns with your registrar for you. We include this service at no charge.
2. You can do it yourself. Here is a general tutorial:
Most domain name registrars (the company which you registered your domain name with) offer an easy to use control panel where you can make DNS/nameserver changes to your domain name.
If you are unable to locate the place in the account with your registrar, please give them a call.
Once you do gain access to the correct portion of your domain control panel, sometimes called "edit dns" you can navigate to the page where you enter/update the nameserver information.
Remove the existing DNS/nameserver entries on your domain name record and replace them with the dns entries you received in your new host welcome email. You generally have two fields. The second field is exactly the same information as the first field - except replace the number 1 with the number 2.
Once the changes to your domain name records have been accepted, it may take upwards of 72 hours before the domain name starts to point to your new web host account. This is a normal and expected delay. If you have any trouble completing the above process, you should contact your domain registrar's technical support group.
