Check & Test Procedure
We urge our web owners to check and test their new websites asap. Not often, but occasionally, we write a code too fast and spell it incorrectly. So it doesn't work. Please check and test your website and send us any errors or corrections as soon as possible.
Here are the procedures for a copy project:
1. Read the copy and note any misinformation relative to your business, product, services or offer. These are considered corrections. Please make sure you identify the exact copy and copy location so we can find what you want corrected.
2. Review the copy for missing information. Add a complete text you want to add to your copy project. We'll reword it if necessary and add it to the project.
3. Submit all corrections at the same time in one HelpDesk ticket. We make the corrections and send you a second notice to check the corrections made.
Here are the procedures for a website or web page:
1. Pages Ending with HTML
Check the image map (links embedded in the banner visuals, if applicable); text links listed at the bottom of the page; and any button links. Sometimes there are links on the pages, too. Check & Test each page's links.
2. Pages Ending with PHP
Click and check links. Report exactly what you did and the technical error message returned.
3. Contact Forms
Whether html, php or FlashMX, fill out each form and send it to yourself. Skip a required field in one of the forms, so you can test the error message, as well as the redirect page on successful submission.
A. Procedure
Make notes as you go through the pages. We ask that you report all errors and/or corrections at the same time -- within the ten days following submission of the Check & Test notice - using this ticket system. Do not use a word.doc, pdf, ppt or fax.
Tip: You might create a plain text or email document and add notes as you go through the check and test process. When you're done, copy and paste your list in a new ticket.
Important Note: The check & test procedure is an important part of your website development. In our experience, it happens that people get busy and don't check & test their website completely. So we now charge a fee for check & test revisions after ten days based on our commercial technical support services. An extension of time is available upon request.
B. Changes and Charges
Within the first ten days of presentation, there is no charge for corrections and minor revisions. Minor changes are described as changes that do meet the original input from Client Studio or document questionniares, but need a bit of modification. Modifications for minor changes requested take less than an hour of our time to process.
If you decide on major changes, please note that these are billable at our current hourly rate. Major changes include new pages, links, design elements, layout and sometimes colors (if they are part of a complex color system). It is a major change to completely rework the text originally submitted.
Also, an addition or change in pictures, images, documents and/or programming is a major change as it requires development time not included with your original web plan order.
We are committed to following the input you provided to the best of our ability [from your written Questionnaire]. If we have not followed your input, we make any needed change at no charge. However, our time for major changes that were not part of your original input is not covered by our original estimate for the time we need to complete your project, and as such, persuant to our terms of service, major changes are billable. If major changes are extensive, the project time may need to be rescheduled.
C. Viewing Issues
Sometimes it appears that web pages are slow to load or don't appear after you click a link. Clear your browser cache or close your browser and startup again. After clicking on the same pages, back and forth many times, it happens that memory in web browsers, such as Internet Explorer and Netscape, get full and the cache needs to be cleared. The key is if you saw the web page once, it is probably the browser cache, not a problem with the page itself. If the problem persists, please review About Browsers before you open a ticket.
Comment: Licensed product installations, such as Retailer Shop, Web Store, Shopkeeper, Hamilton, Calendar, Gallery, Desktop Manager. Web Editor, SendStudio, Freedom Web Site, etc, are pre-programmed, configured and installed software ready for you to add your information and images. As such, these typically do not need the check & test step. However, the check & test process does apply to any customization ordered.
